Eating by the Bay: Top 5 Must Try’s at Oracle Park

Aside from its beautiful scenery, Oracle Park also sports some of the best ballpark food options in all of Major League Baseball. Here’s a short list of some of my favorites that are sure to be home runs for any and all visitors!

1. Cha Cha Bowl

An Oracle Park classic, the Cha Cha Bowl combines rice, beans, grilled chicken, and pineapple-zucchini salsa into a Caribbean style mix that is not only tasty, but quite filling. Whether you’re looking to munch a beer buzz away and/or stray away from the traditional hot dog, this Orlando’s Caribbean BBQ speciality has been a fan favorite for years. Also, there’s an Orlando’s on just about every level of the park, so don’t worry about having to walk a country mile to get one of these bad boys.

2. Crab Sandwich

Seafood lovers unite at Crazy Crab’z out in the bleacher section of the ballpark for their signature crab sandwich. Featuring fresh Dungeness crab loaded between two grilled slices of warm, garlic-butter infused sourdough bread, this is the perfect meal for those sunny, weekend games by the Bay. If you’re of age, I’d definitely enjoy this guy with an ice cold beer.

3. Ghirardelli Ice Cream Sundae

An even more perfect compliment to a hot, summer day game is the ice cream sundaes served at the Ghirardelli stands, located either on the view level or out in the left field bleachers by the kids play areas. Fans enjoy this one so much, they line up in droves for them (even during cold, night games!), so beware of long lines for this popular Oracle Park commodity; however, even if the line is long, that creamy vanilla ice cream coated in hot chocolate fudge will make it all worth while!

4. Elephant Ear

Now, this is a personal favorite of mine. This little stand labeled Fabulous Frybreads has been around for as long as this long-time season ticket holder can remember, but if you’re ever in the mood for a pastry or just dessert in general, take some time to find this tiny concession stand near the kale garden out in center field. The elephant ear is to die for, baked to order and covered in powdered sugar and your choice of strawberries or other assortments of fruits. It’s a little tough to eat in your seat, so maybe find a table where the Oracle Park winds don’t cover the person next to you in sugar, and you can enjoy it more easily with a knife and fork. This treat requires a little more work than the others, but you’ll be thanking me once you try it.

5. Garlic Fries

Well of COURSE we had to end this list with the undoubted staple of Oracle Park, the garlic fries! Believe it or not, this is consistently the meal I have overheard any non-baseball fan say is the reason they bought a ticket to come inside the ballpark. The garlic fries are always available and never disappoint. Served at about every corner of the ballpark, going to a Giants game and not grabbing garlic fries is like going to Disneyland and missing the fireworks show. Whether they’re the match made in heaven for your chicken tenders, hot dog, or burger, or if you’re letting them perform a solo act, this is the pièce de résistance for your visit to Oracle Park!

Now, Oracle Park’s food selection prides itself on being as diverse as the city it’s located in, so these five options barely scratch the surface of the types of goodies to be had at a Giants game. From boba drinks to beef brisket sandwiches, there’s something for everyone at Oracle Park. So next time you’re planning a visit to watch the three time world champs live in action, be sure to come in with an empty stomach!
