‘The Falcon & the Winter Soldier’ Packs More Than a Punch

I know, super corny-generic title you’ve seen a hundred times before. This is my one time. One and done, I swear. Let me live. Marvel Studios ‘The Falcon & the Winter Soldier,’ which for the sake of my sanity will be referred to as ‘F&WS’ throughout this, was the latest series in the Disney+ era to help us through this movie-less time of COVID. And with ‘Loki’ set for June and ‘Black Widow’ set for July, we’re having our first Marvel-less month again since ‘WandaVision’ saved us back in January. I’ll just bullet my thoughts on the series, which I … Continue reading ‘The Falcon & the Winter Soldier’ Packs More Than a Punch

Could the ‘Super Team’ Save Baseball? & Other MLB Stuff

This is kind of a rant about a few things, with little to no research. Just spitballin’. It’s all over the place, but have at it. Just watched the Giants man-handle the Rockies again, this time 12-0 on an Anthony DeSclafani complete game shutout. I’m headed to the park tomorrow with the old man since the opening series against said Rockies, should a classic weekday freeze-fest, and I’m hoping they didn’t use up all their runs tonight. The Giants are tied for the league lead in total wins, tied with the A’s and those damn Dodgers. However, the story in … Continue reading Could the ‘Super Team’ Save Baseball? & Other MLB Stuff

Giants Start Strong, But Does It Matter?

Hey dudes. Took me a while to check-in with Giants stuff, but between attending some games this home-stand myself, getting busted tires replaced, planning an impromptu Maui trip, and just enjoying the cool wave of daily baseball again, I got a little sidetracked. But I’m back, and before we hit the weekend, let’s talk about those Giants, huh? I know like most of you, opening night in Seattle was just brutal. To have 2020 end the way it did, not being able to muster a single win against a Padre team that was literally resting their starters half the time … Continue reading Giants Start Strong, But Does It Matter?

This is Not Good

Just tucked in the misses to bed, waiting for midnight to hit this week’s Falcon & Winter Soldier. Really intrigued so far, like the trade-off of less episodes for longer individual runtimes, not to say the more drawn-out approach didn’t help WandaVision’s suspense levels, but this format I’m in on for sure. But while we’re both here, let’s talk about the Lakers, who even I, one of the most optimistic, unapologetically apologetic fans out there, am leaning off the cliff edge ready to plummet into an abyss of sadness after tonight’s game. They lost 109-101 after rallying late against an … Continue reading This is Not Good

Disney+, WandaVision Set the Tone

It is 1:06 AM at the time that I am constructing this, so it’s going to be all over the place. Then again, everything I put out kind of is, as is customary when you’re a novice. But I just finished up the finale of the MCU’s debut Disney+ original series, WandaVision, and let’s dive into my raw, mostly unadulterated thoughts. So, spoilers? I mean if you didn’t give two or just haven’t seen the finale yet, you wouldn’t have even pulled this up. But it’s within the culture to spoiler warning everything Marvel so… SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! First things first, … Continue reading Disney+, WandaVision Set the Tone

Refreshed Giants Look to Shock NL West

It’s that gorgeous time of year again, Giants fans. The boys are stretching and jogging out in Scottsdale to prep for another season of baseball by the Bay. Will we actually see a game this season? Who knows. But I know, like me, you’ll be glued to the TV for every pitch, more so this season than ever. And for good reason, because despite the collision course for 100 wins each it seems the newly-loaded Padres and defending champion Dodgers are on, there’s a lot to look forward to this season for the orange and black. Let’s go through some … Continue reading Refreshed Giants Look to Shock NL West

Brow Down: Reactions to AD’s Injury

The Lakers quest to repeat as NBA Champions has officially hit its first official road block. And this one’s a real doozy. Anthony Davis had previously missed a few games with a sore right Achilles tendon, and shortly after returning to action, re-aggravated it in Sunday night’s loss to Denver. Lakers Nation held their breaths for a potential season-crippling Woj report that confirmed an Achilles tear, but we were able to partially exhale when it was just a strain. The strain isn’t a saving grace, though. The Lakers’ staff estimated 2-3 weeks of recovery before a re-evaluation, so I would … Continue reading Brow Down: Reactions to AD’s Injury

In on Deshaun? Browns Best Not

An article from Browns news outlet Dawg Pound Daily gained major traction the other day after it posted an article whose author urged Cleveland to strongly consider buying a lotto ticket into the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes for a potential trade. I think it also got discussed on First Take, but I’m not totally sure. Here’s the link: https://dawgpounddaily.com/2021/01/28/cleveland-browns-deshaun-watson-7/ Watson, upset with the mess that his franchise has become, requested a trade earlier this week, generating a cavalcade of rumors and assessments from nearly every NFL team about the possibility of joining the race for the young star QB. Early trade … Continue reading In on Deshaun? Browns Best Not

Lakers Through 15

It appears the defending champs have tackled another trek through unusual waters as good as they did the first time in the Orlando bubble. The Los Angeles Lakers are standing tall at 11-4, tied with their roommates, the LA Clippers, for the best record in the NBA. They’ve steamrolled most of these wins, and pulled out some that were closer than head coach Frank Vogel would have enjoyed. I have but the mildest of concerns thus far, and here they are. Taking the Night Off As we’ve seen with any and all sure-fire title contenders, some regular season nights, the … Continue reading Lakers Through 15

Not Just Yet: Browns Cinderella Season Ends in KC

Well, it was fun while it lasted. The Browns stormed into Arrowhead Stadium, high off their major upset of division rival Pittsburg. This mountain top seemed even more insurmountable than the last, with the defending champion Chiefs looking to show that there would be no rust on their seemingly unstoppable offensive attack, and swift Browns exit was imminent. And for a half, despite a sore big toe, Patrick Mahomes and company would be doing just that. Mahomes was hobbled by a sore big toe he suffered on the opening drive, a drive many thought should belong to the Browns. I … Continue reading Not Just Yet: Browns Cinderella Season Ends in KC
