Some Stuff on a Lotta Stuff

I’m trying to keep postings a weekly thing, but writing this paper for my creative non-fiction class took up most of my free time this week. I’m doing my San Bruno pipeline fire experience, which reminded me what a crazy fuckin’ year that was. That devastating fire, living at that Embassy Suites in South San Francisco for a bit with like two pairs of clothes, just a bizarre time for me; even tougher for the victims who got the worst of it. So, as I’m trying to put all that into an essay that I’ll post here when I clean … Continue reading Some Stuff on a Lotta Stuff

Boogie-less Nights & the Return of ‘Stuperman’

“STUPERMAN IS IN THE BUILDING!” Sorry, I had to. Shout out Kenny Smith. Who would’ve thought though, huh? Dwight Howard is a Laker. And no, you didn’t stumble across a blog post from 2012. After another tragic injury to Demarcus Cousins, the Lakers had to scramble to cover themselves at center and settled on a non-guaranteed deal for center Dwight Howard. Due to fans’ displeasure with his aforementioned “unsuccessful” 2012-2013 campaign, and his inability to stick everywhere else he’s gone, the surprise signing has been met with a magnitude of criticism. But first, I have to say tough fuckin’ luck … Continue reading Boogie-less Nights & the Return of ‘Stuperman’

Friendly Neighborhood Contract Negotiations: Disney & Sony Fall Out on Spider-Man

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be losing their favorite web-slinger (for the time being) as Disney and Sony have failed to reach an agreement on the rights to the character of Spider-Man, leaving Peter Parker’s future up in arms. Apparently, Disney asked to receive a 50-50 split with Sony for any and all things Spider-Man after only grossing about 5% thus far from movies involving the character. Sony, of course, said no and now Spider-Man could be erased from the MCU completely. Although negotiations are still ongoing, things certainly don’t look good for the future of Spider-Man in … Continue reading Friendly Neighborhood Contract Negotiations: Disney & Sony Fall Out on Spider-Man

A Bountiful July

I’m going to be honest. This is not how the realist in me saw the month of July going for the San Francisco Giants. The team was 36-47. I was mentally preparing myself to count the days until I would have to cry in a dark room and mourn the departure of Madison Bumgarner when July 1st came around. I was envisioning the great mastermind that is Bruce Bochy saying a farewell at the last home game with a roster half-full of names I had never heard of, and probably would never hear from again. I would then trudge into … Continue reading A Bountiful July

Grading the New Look Lakers

After a disappointing first year of the LeBron James era in Los Angeles, the Lakers set out to surround him with the right pieces in his second summer with the purple and gold. Last season’s “experiment” to pair James with playmaking veterans with some edge turned out to be a miscalculation; couple that unruly fit with major injuries to LeBron and other key players like Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Javale McGee over the course of most of the season led the Lakers back to the drawing board once again rather than the postseason. It appears Rob Pelinka and company … Continue reading Grading the New Look Lakers

Hello Again

I guess I should apologize not only you, but to myself for slacking on this account. Due to a much needed relaxing vacation with my lovely partner in crime at the beginning of the month, and a generally busy work schedule, I’ve had a tough time hashing out sections of my life to post here. I was married to this website during the school year, so maybe a break was good for the both of us. Both retooled and refueled for the long run. Also, a quick unrelated note, I got the chance to finally see Hamilton at the Orpheum … Continue reading Hello Again
